I would wait until oren's LP is done tbh. If SDR2 is anything like the first game, there's going to be lots of twists that can fuck you up if you're just following the LP. And if you know the spoilers but don't know Japanese it will still fuck you up because you don't have a very detailed summary to go off of. If you do know Japanese and played it you can try but expect people to ignore you and not get castmates because nobody wants to run into spoilers.

oren's LP has been detailed elsewhere as being questionable quality - there's several characters his translations are changing/butchering outright.

as far as "detailed summaries", the main SDR2 article on the DR wiki is an extremely detailed blow-by-blow description of the events of the game, including linking death/execution videos.

read through kuzuhiko's stuff on tumblr, hell, read through oren's LP with a grain of salt, read through the TV Tropes page, and read through the detailed SDR2 article on the DR wiki. Honestly, I think it's enough.

it may be hard to get castmates, though. your best bet is to have a spoiler opt-out, or to app in from an early point in the canon.

While I agree oren's translation choices are... questionable based on what I've heard, kuzuhiko seems to skip a bunch of lines in their LP. And a DR wiki summary and knowing some tv tropes isn't really going to cut it for helping with character voice and stuff, only supplemental really. Your best choice I guess is just to read both, oren for detail and kuzuhiko for accuracy. But it's still dumb to app anyway right now regardless because neither is complete and it's best to wait it out until somebody's finished the game.

kuzuhiko does skip lines, but their trials are line by line, and there's plenty they don't skip in the rest of the story. enough to get voices imo. but i do see where you're coming from.
