Born in sin come on in

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I need to find a better way to handle my self-loathing and depression because the only thing that brings me even a little bit of comfort is food

but anything else I try doesn't help

this sucks

so you're getting fat?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-06 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Not especially fat because I'm physically active most of the day, but eating a metric ton every time I go through a depression phase isn't helping me.

Therapy?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-06 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Not covered by my insurance.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-06 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Does it have to mentioned everytime someone suggests therapy that there may be places in your area with sliding rates or cheaper options?

da

(Anonymous) 2013-06-06 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, apparently it does have to be mentioned every time that these things are often unavailable to most of us.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-06 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I know what's available in my area, and the one that I can afford is so far away that it would bust my bank to pay for the gas to get to it.

So yeah. Nothing is affordable for me where I am.

chewing gum had helped me a lot. at first my jaw hurted after a while, but recently i found a gum "soft" enough so i can chew it for hours and it doesn't tire my jaw -and it doesn't taste like plastic after a while

my jaw hurted

(Anonymous) 2013-06-06 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I might try that, actually. That dessert-flavored gum is one of the few kinds I like, so maybe it'll help keep my mouth fixated.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-07 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
unsolicited advice, but if that does help you, I find Stride gum lasts a long time. I've chewed a piece for two hours + without it losing its flavor.

try drinking water instead, anon. i do this too and i don't want to get fat :( so water helps me because i feel the fulfillment of consuming but water won't make you fat!

or things like crystal light or no calorie drinks

Well, for freebees there's online support groups. There's also some therapists that work online, which I think cost considerably less, but do a shitload of research before picking one.

I have a collection of stuffed animals, personally, because curling up and hugging them kind of helps me fill the empty feeling inside. I guess it depends on what you find comforting about eating?
