I never got the idea of "shiny" so much since I always pick up characters from new canons I get into -- whether they're old shows/comics or new. If I had interest in playing a character from a series I was into a long time ago I would have apped them a lot sooner than later. I don't get it.

Anyway, care to name a few of the said characters you're talking about? Most of the characters' personalities are fairly straight forward, so I don't know why anyone would get them wrong.
