I know, I know. A lot of prison-style games already exist, but I want a prison styled game with a bit more focus on the actual setting and the issues therein. Not necessary to be a modern setting (prison colony in space could be interesting or an AU prison set in an previous time), but actual cells, prisoners, guards (including some on the take or on a power trip), gangs/factions, snitches, prison politics and power struggles. The tension from so many people being trapped in close quarters with each other with limited to no contact with the outside world and restricted privileges that they have to cooperate to get. There could even be NPCs of guards and prisoners to further the plot of the game along, riots, escape attempts, gang fights, etc.

This kind of game would likely be on the darker side, but I think with the right planning ahead of time, and mods invested in keeping people from going overboard, it could be great and I would app to it in a heartbeat.

Would this be jamjar, AU, an OC game or something else?

i don't know. I just put the idea out there for other people to think about. I think it could work as an AU or jamjar (hence mentioning space prison colony). I'm not really into OC only games, but I guess that could work too.
