Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

THEORIES

Inspired by the above. So. Symbolism. You got any?

see i thought the entire game was an allegory for hugo being terminally ill (his soundbite is a cough and the elsens breathe smoke, so a lung disease is likely), conceptualizing his illness as a villain and the villain in the guise of his deadbeat father, particularly in a batter's outfit due to the comic his father gave him last

he constructs an elaborate fantasy world where things don't make sense (because he's very young) and his imaginary friends are guardians that protect him, and as the illness shuts down different parts of his body (as batter kills the guardians and destroys the zones), he gets sicker and sicker

the fight with vader eloha is a fight in the hospital between his father, who only just came back into the picture and was entirely absent otherwise, and his mother, over what to do with hugo

his father wins and soon after that hugo goes braindead (the fight with hugo), and the final decision between the batter and the judge (possibly a god figure?) is the father's decision whether or not to turn off hugo's life support, either ending in hugo's death or in hugo alive, but braindead

zacharie is a self-admitted anomaly just for the point of the video game and symbolizes nothing

idk that was my interpretation anyway, from the above anon's comment it looks like everybody has a pet theory

"Zacharie is a self-admitted anomaly just for the point of the video game and symbolizes nothing"
I love how that part's the same in pretty much all the theories.

I think that Zacherie is the "Masked Man" who killed the Toad King, so he's got some kind of symbolism beyond his role as the Item Salesman.

i think while the judge can symbolize a conscious/lawful justice in real life, zacharie could probably be a sort of driving force like the batter's add-ons. i always interpreted him as a little shady

but on the other hand, i also like him just being a reminder that it's a video game because some parts are hard to swallow as you play

mortis once said forever ago that zacharie actually did have some type of backstory but i doubt we'll hear anything about it now

zacharie slayed the toad king

there's a book in the library that tells of a "masked man" that did this

and we know zacherie likes to make masks of dead people

when that was brought up to mortis ghost, he basically said "idk if you want"

so that's up in the air too

I think this is a really interesting theory, anon! Nothing to add, I just enjoyed reading it.
