Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

WHAT IF...

it's 3:30am where I am so sorry if this just-popped-in-my-head idea is incoherent or stupid but

What if, given the time frame of the Federation going from altruistic to not-so-altruistic is due to some sort of failed civil, internal uprising with Dane, which results in him getting the expunged, and then there's little to stop the Federation from treading down a darker path? Adam could have possibly been involved but not to an immediate consequence, which could better explain that whole deleter subplot they tried to throw in Other M (and totally forgot about, but I digress). The Federation might've had it in mind to off him ever since that uprising, and waited for the perfect opportunity to enact that when Adam kept doing his own thing with the Platoon.

Otherwise, yeah I headcanon Samus is pretty much in "outlaw" relations with the Federation post-Fusion, preferring to give them a one-fingered salute for what they tried to do at B.S.L. They probably try to keep her in good graces because they know she's a good resource/gun for hire but I imagine that's only a very superficial sentiment.

The Federation would probably be able to track her wherever she took that ship with computer Adam in it, however, so she might have to 1) tragically destroy him, 2) he has to tragically destroy himself (maybe a badass sacrifice more befitting than the pointless melodrama we got in Other M), 3) she has to ditch him somewhere to meet again another day. OR, more than likely what Nintendo will pull out of their ass is that she keeps taking contracts from the Federation like a moron.

I think it'd be interesting, if Nintendo had to go that route for whatever reason, if the Federation reclaimed that ship and used computer Adam as a sort of ransom/blackmail to get her to do another mission for them, while she secretly works against them in between her mission.

I'd also love to think that the Federation might finally realize, "Hey, Samus is technically the last living Metroid and is like, the best bioweapon anyone could ever ask for, why not try to capture/clone HER!" and get the balls to try and take her on. I think that could have a very strong, interesting, and exciting story.

Ideally, I'd love to see Samus do actual bounty hunting in a post-Fusion, whether the Federation is a clear antagonist, or only partially one.

also, all these cool discussions popping up on the anon comms lately really makes me want to see metroid_fans over here on DW or something I'd love to get to know all of you lovely anons

Not gonna lie, I totally have an account for a teenage Samus clone. I figured she could have been cloned from DNA they collected during the beginning of Fusion when they were curing her x-parasite infection and then unleashed because "The only person who stands a chance at killing/capturing Samus is Samus herself!!1!" Super cliche but damn if that wasn't an interesting dynamic to try brainstorm in a musebox/lame AIM RP.

kind of cliche maybe, but taking into consideration how much inspiration Metroid draws from Aliens I think it's totally perfect.

Instead of a room full of Ripley clones, it's a room full of Samus clones.
