I had some unpleasant things happen in my last game, so I'm pretty nervous about apping in, especially since I play an obscure character. I'm worried about my interpretation of them not being good enough or people not wanting to tag with me. Or me not being able to keep up with the plot, as far as understanding it. I also have a lot of anxiety/self-confidence issues when talking to people, so that doesn't help either...

There are quite a few obscure characters already though. Just looking at the taken list offhand the canons I'd say are obscure that have people playing from them are Eternal Darkness, Fatal Frame, Golden Sun (?) Jackie Chan Adventures, Kamen Rider, Legend of Heroes, Mother 3, Parasol Protectorate, Pretear, Redwall, S-CRY-ED. Quite a few canons not commonly played from either like Ar Tonelico, Gundam, Lord of the Rings, Tsubasa, etc.

In fact, the characters from big popular canons seem to be the minority if anything.

Yeah. Anxiety doesn't usually lead to being reasonable, so I'm aware, but still highly uncomfortable.
