okay so

i can kind of understand hoarders who save like every store receipt and ticket stub that ever comes into their possession and can't stand to get rid of their kids' toys or old clothes or whatever

it's the ones who have literal garbage and animal feces piled everywhere that i start thinking aren't hoarders so much as disgusting lazy slobs

"oh i don't know i just didn't get around to taking out the garbage i guess!" "oh i'm just too busy to take the dogs outside to go potty!" "i've just never been a good housekeeper DON'T YOU JUDGE ME"

the ones who let it get that bad are usually severely mentally ill, or physically disabled.

It's a mental illness anon. Plus they usually have some sort of emotional problem ON TOP of the hording, which only makes their problems seem more insurmountable, and once things get that bad it can be really, really hard to even figure out how to start on making things better without counseling and professional help.

that's how my hoarding family usually is.

they don't give enough fucks to get up to throw things away, even unfinished food. if they make a hot pocket, they'll throw the plastic and box on the stove, then when they're done with it, they'll leave their plate wherever (the table, the floor, anywhere but the garbage or the sink) and forget about it. sometimes they'll knock it over onto the floor or behind the couch and it fucking rots and it's so disgusting.

now imagine that with three people, 3 meals a day plus dozens ofsnacks. it's a nightmare.
