It would make sense if they were added with the relevant character DLC but just shoving them in the main game can be kind of annoying.

I suspect maybe this is just a result of how they make it possible for DLC only characters to enter the multiplayer games of people without the DLC.

Like all the data for the character is present in all games, they just lock the ability to create the character until you buy the dlc to unlock that meaning the items will drop on the off chance you have someone who did get the DLC in your party or know someone with the DLC who you may trade with in future.

but this is just a wild guess.

idk, I don't have room to pick up things any more on most of my characters so I'm losing my ability to care about irrelevant drops.
