Why don't you marry an ice cream sandwich

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I'm thinking of apping here next round and have a few options I'm picking between. Are there any types of characters (whether profession, role they play in the group, whatever) that the game is low on?

I'd love to see more survival horror characters, tbh. We have a lot of supernatural people, but more Resident Evil (horror games in general) or even more peeps from actual horror movies would be really awesome. Plus there's such a wide variety of situations all those are involved in, it'd be cool to see them under one roof. Not to say I don't wanna see more supernatural characters, but I really wanna see a jump in the mentioned, because I love me some horror people.

The thing I love most about this game is it's a good home for horror movie characters. I'd love to see more of them. And yeah, we're definitely good on supernatural folks; let's get some more regular, badass humans that came face to face with shit that shouldn't have existed in their home worlds. (Or were just really traumatic and awful but they kicked ass anyway.)

I have a supernatural character apped in and I even agree with this.

Not to discount the other anons opinions, but if there's one thing I've found with ax, you should definitely app in for yourself, not other people. Time after time I've seen people bring in castmates or that one character loads of people were excited about, only to not get a footing in the game and not have the desire to stick around long enough to gain that traction because their enjoyment level for that character was low in the first place. Pick the character you want to play.

Going a step further to say that you should app for the game itself. If you're interested in it, do it! There are some great casts here, but lone canon warriors can do just as well if not better than those with castmates.

Using myself as an example, I was specifically looking for a mystery-horror type game with a lot of elements concealed from the player base and ooc puzzles and speculation, because I'd been in a private RP the year before and it was the most fun I'd ever had role-playing. If you come in both wanting and expecting that sort of environment and are willing to tag out and contact people ooc to tell them what you want, you should have a great time.
