there's many decent summaries of the games floating around that are pretty informative and easy to find with a google search. It's not that hard to play an Utapri character based on the games.

and there's a lot of differences, especially when it comes to familial relationships and their developed relationships with Haruka. For example, the anime never covers Shining Saotome being Otoya's dad, Syo having a twin brother and a heart condition (the anime replaced that with a fear of heights that was actually Otoya's fear in the games), or Masato having a little sister. It never covers all the random shit that happens in Cecil's routes, either. Even Haruka is slightly more developed in the games.

Also, Starish doesn't even really exist in the games? They all debut individually in their own routes or as smaller units with each other.

Ah okay I heard about the differences but I didn't know they were this different. I'll try reading up on the game stuff and see which one I like better (which will probably be games since chances are they're more developed). Thanks for your input.

OP should definitely read game summaries if they're thinking of picking up Reiji or Ai too. IDK how well the anime's going to cover this, but those two have an...interesting interlocking relationship that should definitely be known if you play them. It adds a lot more depth to their character.

why are you -1 when we have the same point? only if op wants to play from anime op should focus on the anime more.

is there some anime vs game wank going on in this fandom that i'm not aware of?

i don't get the -1 for this either

there's a lot of differences, sure. but the anime ties up the entire thing (including the relationship of the cast) together in one continuity. which is why it's easier to focus on the anime for continuity or plot rather than the games, which have different routes and different continuities per character.

having info of the game is fine if you want additional stuff to flesh out the characters (i.e. the boys' family backgrounds). but since the anime is more accessible to most people because lol moonspeak, then there's nothing wrong with focusing on just the anime.
