it sounds like you already have the right idea. sonic is his RIVAL and he's sworn to kill him on several occasions, he is not harboring some intense homolust for him and generally only works with him out of necessity if that. if people want to ship it then fine, whatever, but keep it out of games.

other than that, as... not so great as shadow's game was, it's kind of a must play (or at least a must watch if you'd rather go the lp route) regarding his character. there's a lot of stuff in there that was really only alluded to previously, especially about maria, the doctor, and his creation. and obviously sonic adventure 2: battle is a good starting point.

shadow is definitely an angsty character, no doubt, but don't go over absolutely overboard with it. not because it's necessarily ooc but because it's going to put off other people from playing with you. small doses, and when he does angst, it should be over the important stuff, not every little thing that goes wrong.

use maria as an anchoring point so he's not all darkness darkness darkness WHO AM IIIII all the time. it'll help bring some humanity (so to speak) to the character. he is very much a loner so it may be difficult to get him involved or interested, so be prepared to work harder for cr.

other than that, just mull about some memes once you've done some review and throw him into whatever looks good. maybe you, young grasshopper, can be the shadow that dw deserves.

actually, shadow being shipped with sonic can work out in a game if developed over a good period of time and not just random burning homolust. i've seen it done very well before in a way that worked with shadow's personality and train of thought.

sounds like you've got a bad idea of sonadow shippers and furries (who, fyi, aren't totally sexual, lusty beings) in general tbh. it can be played out fine in a game. saying it's an absolute no is kind of extreme.

no, no, aaaaaand no. show me an instance of where this was "done very well" and i'll eat crow, otherwise, i stand by what i said. not every character needs to be in a fucking romantic ship with their rival, it makes no sense in this instance at all and if i were a castmate i'd definitely be side-eyeing the shit out of that no matter how much "development" it got.

your furries comment is a different argument entirely but yes i am going on record as saying it's primarily a fetish and one i would prefer not to see smeared all over this fandom more than it already has been. sorry.

Sonadow and furries get a lot of really bad stigma, so I can get why the harsh reaction, but at the same time, it really doesn't warrant generalization. I know a lot of furries who are actually very nice and handle their fetish/culture/whatever you call it well.

Saying that it's bad, even if played well and with development, is still uncalled for, no matter which way you look at it. It's still dogging people for playing what they like. Isn't that what RP is here for? Fun? Playing out what you like?

I get that you and the OP don't like it, and that's completely fine. Just don't pee in the Cheerios of those who do like it. That's not okay in any fandom, furry or not.
