Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Re: How did you get into journal rp?

I found my first game through fanfiction, actually. I was reading this series of one shots about a character I liked from a fairly obscure fandom, and the writer had stated that they were taking part in one of the x-scene challenges at LJ. (I believe it was the 50scenes one, but I am not sure). I googled the challenge together with the character name and found their RP journal, and one of the short stories in there was actually an RP scene, which was linked to a game.

... and then I stalked that game (which had a cast of said obscure fandom, and several others I liked) for a couple of months. I was rather young and ESL, so I was fairly sure I would not join, but eventually couldn't resist any longer. Surprisingly enough, I got accepted (though now I can say that app standards weren't particularly high). And then I learned how to RP.

I wasn't there for long, though. The people were super welcoming and sweet and basically everyone played their characters awesomely, but... I'm in Europe. With the exception of two or three people, everyone exclusively tagged around between 'my' 2am and 6am, so I'd never get more than one tag a day, except on weekends. Additionally, there were no CR memes or plurk or anything like that - everything was plotted in the game chat. Between 2am and 6am. So while I still got CR and talked some over AIM, it didn't feel ideal to me.

After a month or two, I found out about d_m, sws, memes and the likes and I had a lot more fun playing there than I had in the game - because there, I found people to boomerang tag with. I idled out of the game and played mostly in PSLs and museboxes for a long while until I apped elsewhere.

As for the game... it did die, though not while I was there. I know there was an attempt to revive it, but that did not work out, which is sad, since the premise was a lot of fun.
