But little did they know

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Find a game with an actual, active plot, and get involved right out of the gate. Most fictional loners will interact with people if they have a common goal, and plot-based scenes are a good jumping off point for building CR that you can use to force your character out of their shell.

You will probably have to resign yourself to not having as wide a CR pool as people playing more outgoing characters, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

This basically. Don't be afraid to try out a lot of games looking for one with a plot your character can get involved in. Also don't be afraid to drop if it isn't working out, some games click, some don't.

That said pick your threads. Nothing burns you out on playing a stoic loner more than having a bunch of "every day" kind of threads where you're struggling to keep your character interested in the conversation. Try to avoid doing pointless open posts for the same reason (things like Stoic Loner is out shopping and got lost, come bother him).

Personally when I find a game that clicks with my stoic loner and know I want to stay there for a while I usually app a second character who's more social to keep myself from getting bored or frustrated by the fact my stoic loner will only tag a handful of posts every week.
