But little did they know

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Any advice on playing Desmond? I gave him a try back in the days of AC:Broohood and have been thinking of picking him up again but I know he can be a tricky one. Most of the complaints I've heard about RPer's portrayal of him seem to stem from him coming across as boring. How can I liven him up without depending too much on headcanon, or is that the only way? Anything I should keep in mind?

Re: livening him up:

This is a guy who has basically been under lock and key for months. While he should be looking over his shoulder, he should also be relishing having his freedom back and maybe going a bit over the top with it at times... especially if he's in a place where there are no Templars, especially pre-Revelations, when he wants out and hasn't fully accepted his role as an Assassin. He also once lived in New York City on a bartender's wage and living amongst the city's nightlife, and spent his later teenage years and early twenties with basically no adults to answer to after an isolated childhood cut off from most of society. He should be very independent -- he should be out there and having fun, trying to find a new place to spend his time and fit in.

He shouldn't be boring. He was basically raised in an almost Amish-style rural cult only to run away to the big city and get wrapped up in an international conspiracy spanning thousands of years of history. Desmond should hide in "boring" as a cover but come alive in his freedom.
