It's raw you donkey

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

yes yes exactly this is how i see it, most likely meant to be canon male but plenty of ground for being a poor confused baby. and needing some time and actual strong female role models like sakura around them to figure things out.

although also for the purely cis interpretation people. if your attitude about it is "HA HA HE IS ABSOLUTELY MALE FOREVER YOU OTHER PEOPLE ARE DEFINITIVELY WRRRRONG AND IT IS OFFENSIVE YOU WOULD EVEN CONSIDER OTHERWISE EVER HA HA HA." then hello i have a gift for you. it is a side eye. no really, you can keep it, i insist.

In response to the sarcastic side-eye:

Personal anecdote, but I am a cisgender male who comfortably crossdresses. The usual perception (from both cis and trans) is that I'm transgender, but most are pretty understanding and accepting when I correct them. It's not hard for them to accept that I am comfortable in my male identity but also crossdress for my own reasons.

Then there are the minority who insist that I must be trans, or that I "need more time to explore my gender identity", or give me a speech about how gender is a gradient and I must be less than 100% male if I crossdress.

I laugh it off, but I have to say: it feels pretty bad when people imply (usually innocently) that you are wrong for being a crossdresser and a 100% cisgender male, or somehow (to use your own words) "confused" about your own self.

So to summarise: I've learnt that if someone uses male pronouns, refers to themselves as male, and doesn't explicitly say or imply otherwise (e.g. "I've been wondering about my gender identity lately"), they are cis male. It actually is a bit offensive to imply they are anything different because they don't match your perceptions of what gender identity is. And honestly, I would have just laughed it off (as I usually do) if it hadn't been for that odorous "side eye" comment of yours.

This, this, this. I'm a cisgender female who crossdresses, and this perfectly sums up how I felt about the same comment (and my own issue with this).

Insisting that someone who crossdresses must be trans can definitely be offensive, and the way this fandom handles this at times definitely falls under that category for me at times too. This is one of these times.
