Why the fuck does everyone interpret Colress as evil? Or woobify him?

The fucking point is that he's a scientist. He puts science above anything else, even a scale of morality. He pursues power as a thesis and when the protagonist arrives, he's more interested to see if their methods provide a stronger Pokémon than seeing Ghetsis' evils answered to.

He is the most SCIENCE character ever and I can't even believe that people take this really rare sort of Actual Scientist (Not A Mad Genius) character and make him just a fucking bad guy or mad scientist.

i haven't seen either interpretation, but i agree whole heartedly! i was scared when b2w2 came out (and now with Episode N comign around hah....hhhh.) because colress is such a good character because he's a scientist among scientists

but so many people will just peg him as "THE EVIL GUY FROM THE SEQUEL" and it's not that at all, ghetsis is still the villain-- colress is just the one who joined team plasma to help him conduct his research

as a scientist, tho, colress is a pretty eh scientist
his thesis is vaguely defined and he comes across as wishy-washy about his results
he's an interesting concept and I would love to see some good interpretations RP'd but the game (like all pokegames) hands you very little

If he puts his SCIENCE and research above any scale of morality, that means he's morally bankrupt. It might not make him evil, but it does make him a bad person.

Yeah that is totally fair, he's not a good guy at all, but most people play him the mad scientist and make him somehow even more shallow than the games do.

I was hoping for some good RPers to really take him and run with it, but almost all of them are going down just plain stupid paths and it's major disappointment. I've seen so many people talking on plurk about how SOOPUR EVIL he is and just relishing the mad scientist interpretation.

It bugs the shit out of me and I hate it because he really could be a fascinating character.

I wanted to try when I had just finished the canon but everyone sort of jumped on his character haha (plus I don't RP nearly as much as I used to). I'm sorry you've had such a crummy experience with them, 'non!

Pokemon fans have a tendency to take an inch of moral ambiguity and take a mile of contrived grimdark nonsense that proves they're not wo/manchildren for liking Pokemon, so that doesn't come as a surprise.
