A friend and I are looking for a game to play a pair of obscure book characters together in. Half-brothers, one's a wizard with emotional problems on the level of Marvel characters, the other's an ex-thief, ex-assassin, grumpy lineface. Their canon background is a fantasy world that's roughly Regency Europe plus magic.

We'd be looking for something that leans a little plottier than most jamjars, medium-paced, any size.

...do they have a third brother?

Nope. Felix and Mildmay from the Doctrine of Labyrinths series.

Maybe try

soul_campaign? Plotty medium-paced and -sized jamjar, and we've have a number of obscure book characters in the past that had good runs there. And the premise of the game includes a partnership situation that can add a really interesting facet to existing relationships, or act as a gateway to really good cross-canon CR.

asgardeventide is a medium-paced jamjar with a plot. Apps open every month (and close tonight at midnight CST.) Characters are pulled to Yggdrasil by the gods of Asgard, who are trying to stave off Ragnarok and restore color to the world before the prophesied end destroys all worlds. There's a solid amount of worldbuilding and opportunity for player plots, too.

It's up in the air for right now but they're characters from Awakening. We all love the game and are itching for some cross-CR and a nice place to root ourselves and we have a lot of different options for characters.

how about a game based on the kingdom hearts universe?

demeleier would love to have you guys. We're a fantasy game based in celtic fae lore. The game is slow-medium pace and runs between dark fantasy, mystery, and slice of life, with a lot of emphasis on survival in the setting.

Is there a current list of DRs/sandboxes around the way

I feel like there's all this interest in more open games lately but nowhere to go to really know your options, so all the DRs just stay dead. :(
