Why. The fucking. AIM. Missions.

Seriously, this is what killed the game for me and why I left. I like the premise, I play a few characters that people keep trying to recruit into the game and I wouldn't care to come back if it weren't for the AIM missions.

I don't have the time to set aside in the evening to simply sit in an AIM chatroom for hours and hours, waiting for my turn to do some action or other. The bonus to journal/community RP like this is that it isn't in real time and one doesn't have to be present right then to get things done.

I can do tags while I other shit. I don't want to be shackled to an AIM chat for an evening when I could be doing other stuff in between tags instead.

They're awful to try and read, too. The ones I looked at weren't formatted at all so they were just a huge wall of text.

How did this even become a thing for this game, anyway?

They're an attempt to replicate the format of the video game it's based on. Whether that's a good idea or not isn't really my decision, as i'm not a mod. That said, they're optional.

I thought joining in the missions was the only way to participate in actual plot-related things.

Yeah, this is what I thought too. It used to be the only way you could participate in plot things back on LJ. If they have events or things like that, I'm sure you could do those. But the only way to actually take part in the battles was through the AIM missions.
