i think how you play her depends a lot on her canon point, but something you might want to keep in mind is how she views dependency on other people

initially, yukari doesn't care for other people to an extent. she's friendly, but it's hard for her to trust people and get her to open up to them. since she's so disgusted with her mom, she think it's better if she stays independent rather than trying to find happiness in/from other people. she can get angry if someone ends up helping her, but it's mostly at herself because she wants to be strong enough to not need other people's help; she should be able to take care of herself on her own. however, as her character develops, she comes to understand that it's alright to have others to depend on. yes, she can take care of herself most of the time, but there's nothing wrong with having others to rely on, people you can trust. she realizes that she's stronger having friends than she would be by herself.

also, as seen how one makes a social link with her in the male protag route vs the female protag route, she's probably more likely to open up to a girl rather than a guy.

What I'm really having trouble with, though, is actually narrowing in on a good canon point to play her from. I'm leaning more towards male protag route than female protag route simply because I've played it more.

Her insecurities and trust issues are actually what draw me to playing her, but I'm less certain on particular ah... voice quirks, I guess? I want to strike a good balance with her - remain true to her tendency to snark a bit (particularly and presumably others like him) but not overdo it...

it makes sense to go with what you're more comfortable with, so go for it! as for canon points hmm... after she sees the doctored video of her dad might be interesting since she's hit a low point in her life, and you can decide how to pull her up from it from there. after the kyoto trip might be good too since it's after she opens up to and helps out mitsuru, so she'd probably be more genuinely friendly with people and all.

as for voice quirks, i think she talks very casually/normally, like a regular teenager would and all. everyday phrases you'd hear from teens like 'cool', 'lame', etc would be vocabulary she uses. as for her snarking i'd say she really lays it on around either people she's relatively comfortable with (junpei) or people who really push the line (ryoji). when she talks to other kinds of people and snarks, it seems more like small comments to herself i think. i'm... not really sure if any of that will help SCREAMS but watching s.link/some casual events (maybe like when they're getting ready to find fuuka or something like that) videos should give a better idea on her voice i think.
