rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. That's a good summary, yes. It's a very hard game, but as you learn, it becomes a lot more fair. My first time through took seventy hours to beat it, second time took twenty, now I can get to the halfway point in one sitting. It's a third-person action game, with gameplay kind of like modern Legend of Zelda games, only slower paced and screwing up will get you murdered instead of losing a couple hearts.

You can really make your character into anything you want. Want to wear light armor and flip around like a douchebag stabbing people with a dagger or a rapier? Go for it, it's viable. Want to lob fireballs, arcane magic, or lightning? Knock yourself out. Want to wield a fuck-off huge claymore and tromp around in so much armor the ground shakes when you walk? You can do that, and your attacks will actually flatten enemies to the ground with every swing... as long as you hit. You can even cosplay Sephiroth with an eight-foot katana. Hell, mix up a couple of those things if you want, be a dude with a flaming katana throwing spears of magic crystal at dragons and zombies.

The online features are also neat (except the netcode is god awful and it takes a while to kick in). Characters can be in two states: human, or hollow. If you're hollow, not only are you ass-ugly, but you're effectively cut off. No one will enter your world for any reason. By sacrificing humanity, a stat that can be gained in various ways, you can turn human. While human, you can summon other people that want to be summoned to come help you kill things, usually the game's suite of very large, very difficult bosses, but you can also be invaded by people seeking to kill you, turn you hollow again, and take that humanity that turned you human.

The best part of the game, though, IMO, is the story. The closest thing to a giant plot dump you ever get in the game is one character finally telling you what you've done so far and giving you a clue where to go next, but he doesn't tell you why or for what purpose. The rest of the story aside from the intro movie, including that aforementioned why, you figure out from the scattered dialogue you get from the very few sane residents of Lordran, the descriptions on items that give you some insight on their former owners, the actions of some of those residents sane or not, and actually seeing the world. There's one very hidden area, a place a lot of people may never even see, that both answers and asks a lot of questions without a single word being spoken to you at any point. It's a fantastically-crafted world with hours and hours of youtube videos analyzing every inch of it, making timelines, and exploring the characters.

Sounds like pure, distilled autism.
