rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Concerns?

Batting around the idea of a dressing room-type, casual community for law enforcement-type characters (particularly cops and detectives) that work in non-fantasy/SF worlds. Could have OOC discussion, too, so players could swap notes on research or on looking for tips and ideas for crime-and-detection-based plots in whatever comms they're playing. Really not sure there'd be enough interest, but it's an idea.

Also wondering if there's a novels/short stories-characters-only dressing room out there already.

I could have sworn there was a novel character DR out there, but now I can't seem to find it... DRs rarely seem to last long, so it's probably dead anyway.

Anyway, I think the law enforcement DR sounds interesting, but you're probably going to have a very hard time getting enough people to sustain much activity. DRs seem to be waning in popularity since the big meme comms provide more opportunity for tags.

I miss the days of DRs. I'm a very casual RPer, and they were nice for just popping in and out and chilling without having to do wacky themed things to a character. Alas!

I miss them too! But the only ones that seem to be going strong are sex DRs like TLH and some single fandom DRs.

And even TLH has a lot of memes. Man, I have fallen behind the times. Maybe a musebox is the way to go.

What are the big players in meme comm land, anyway? Those were just coming in back when I swapped over to mostly chatplay, so they're a foreign land to me. Maybe I should try them.

bakerstreet is the big one. The other major meme comms usually crosspost there. Still, you're lucky if you can find any sustained rp there, even on a very casual basis.

Aye, the whole every post requires its own AU/'verse thing is weird to me. I like playing my characters not--constant variations on the characters.

Oh, a lot of bakerstreet memes are "jamjars," or the 'verse is just irrelevant. I have the opposite problem on bakerstreet, where I really like setting up AUs but not many other people really like them.
