Any recs for a comm that errs on the side of standard-human, non-powered characters and is friendly to slow taggers? Or generally any recs for comms that won't leave a slow tagger feeling sidelined because there's no chance they could keep up with plot if they did get involved?

Define "slow tagger". I've seen people use that to mean anything from tagging once a day to tagging once every week or two, which makes it a little hard to make suggestions.

For me, the slowest I'd get would be one tag every two days. I usually run at at least one tag a day (or more, depending on how much time and interest I have), but like to be able to disappear for a day or two without causing problems.

I just joined hollyheights and it's been pretty slow so far, and all characters are turned human and depowered on arrival. idk if slice of life is your thing, but it seems like it fits what you're looking for.

Things are pretty slow over at montauk_1_allende_18, but it's not slice of life, so maybe there is some hope for things with a plot for you? Also, it's got power loss and is generally geared more toward badass normals.

Well, damn, that sounds promising. The character I'm interested in bringing to a comm is a badass normal. Anything I should know about it? Good writers, bad writers, decent modding, weird politics?

It's pretty new, so it's hard to say anything definitive yet, but everyone there seems decent so far and the mods are easy to talk to.

cape_kore is pretty comfortable for that speed. There's a 1:3 day ratio, so backtagging and slow tagging don't make you fall behind too quickly.

If you are alright with horror/survival, you should have a look at the_devils_see. We're a small group and insanely backtag-friendly. The pace is also slow due to the small group. But everyone is incredibly nice and creative. Supernatural kind of characters get depowered, so you wouldn't have a disadvantage as a normal human.

It's currently on lj but likely moving soon due to lj being, you know...wacky. Putting it nicely.

But it's relatively slow...or rather, there's fast-taggers, but it's generally understood that not everybody can tag back immediately and there's people in all the timezones so sometimes that makes fast-tagging difficult too.

But anyway, it's OC-only and there aren't powers and it's mostly slice-of-life with some plotty goodness tossed in by the mods but nothing that requires someone be on a particular time for a particular little space of time in order to participate.
