rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. I thought Russell Crowe was fine, but not exceptional. I really like that he captured how Javert is not a villain, but a misguided man with erroneous beliefs. However, I thought his performance was a tad too subtle to suit the character. Javert is meant to be extremely intense and driven, and his presence should have the power to command a room. I was missing that conviction and intensity in his performance, especially when it came to Stars or his suicide. My impression was that he was so focused on trying to sing it properly that he missed that piece in his actual acting.

TL;DR I had absolutely no problem with his singing and he was in fine voice for the role. He did a decent job overall, but I found myself wishing he was more intense and had a bit more conviction in his performance.

Pretty much all of this. He also sounded like he was singing through a yawn constantly, which was a bit distracting.
