For all the people who talk about how the game isn't dying and we're still going and what-not, we've had a depressing number of apps lately.

That being said, motherfuck I hope that Kristoph gets accepted.

Guys, has it occurred to you that all the anoncomm negativity is putting off potential appers?

I'm not in the game, but I was thinking of apping soon, and all this ominous talk about how the game is dying is... not helping.

Well even before the big string of negativity, apps have been dwindling.

And if I were you anon, I'd wait until at least March or April to app-don't try to last minute app in February. We've just lost two mods and have no idea who the next mods are gonna be. I predict that February will be a tiny bit of a clusterfuck as soon as mod announcements are made.

I was aiming for the March cycle, so that's not a problem. I'm just worried about the claims that the game's dying because I'm looking for a place to settle in, not somewhere to play for a couple of months. I do know games have their ups and downs, but as an outsider, I have no way of telling if this is a slow period or something else.

It's definitely a slow period-but then again, we've been ridiculously slow since the DW merge. I don't think the game is going to die anytime soon, but we just lost our best two mods, so I'm not sure how they'll replacements will hold up.

We've had a lot of stable new players in the past six months or so. I'm pretty sure we're not going to die, just getting turnover. It's not dying anytime soon.

My impression is that it's a slow period. I know a lot of good players who have said they not only have no plans to leave anytime soon, but would start up Barge 2.0 if this one closes.

Try to ignore the naysayers. It sounds like a few people are unhappy with things right now, but nine apps is pretty solid. Our activity levels are the same they've always been, too, and a bunch of new people just joined us. The game definitely isn't dying. If you're interested, app in March! We'd love to have you!

Every game that I have ever played in has hit a point when anon has declared it to be "dying". None of them have ever actually died. It's just player turn-over.

If you want to app in then do so, ignore what everybody says. There is a chance it will succeed and there is a chance it will fail.

All you can do is look at this thread, and the last couple, then decide if it is worth it. There is a large mod change happening, a shift of powers, and so nobody knows for sure what will happen. Maybe somebody will step up to help wrangle THAT MOD but there's a larger chance that she will appoint sycophants without even asking the players or past mods for input.

I've been in the game for multiple mod changes and the mods never asked the players (or at least me) for input. We're gonna get some sycophants.

FWIW, I joined about six months ago and I've been having an absolutely amazing time. I just... ignore all this bullshit about OH GOD THE GAME IS DYING and I'M JUST SAYING WHAT WE'RE ALL THINKING blah blah blah. I love it. We are losing some old players lately, but we've been getting other n00bs that are crazy awesome, and it's not actually hard at all to avoid the drama-mongers, no matter what impression anon may be giving you.
