Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. It doesn't look like DW can handle 5,000 comment entries at the moment so please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

Along a similar vein, quite a few series (especially those ridiculous shounen series and surprisingly a lot of shoujo series that try to incorporate battles) have a tendency to be really vague about how powerful the characters are. You get some comparisons and contrasts with the other characters in the series, but other than that, you're on your own. How that character would fare against a character from another series can be pretty difficult to figure out at times. I think naturally most players are going to push toward the stronger end of the scale offered them so their characters can get as much action as possible. Especially with the amount of godmode-type characters we have in game.

That isn't to say some people aren't abusing that though. I hope no one is.

Hmm, maybe I should have been a bit clearer. I meant that I've seen characters obtain powers that are outside their canon (aka they learned another series/universe's techniques), which seem a bit unlikely given the power levels that they have in canon. How would you crit that?

The mods have ruled that if the talents are similar enough to learn, then a character can learn another universe's powers at a reasonable rate.

Like if someone from Harry Potter wanted to learn alchemy, they could probably create minor reactions after some study (like the Elrics did when they were tiny), but wouldn't be able to do anything on the scale that Ed and Al could.
