Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. It doesn't look like DW can handle 5,000 comment entries at the moment so please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

I don't really think that anime version Usagi is any more immature then the manga version. She starts out at 14 and she's 16 when the anime series ends, and there's a big difference there.

Anime Usagi and Mamoru's relationship isn't especially creepy either, in my opinion. They're very much Princess and Knight, if you get my meaning.

Anime Usagi and Chibi-Usa have a quasi-sibling relationship, while manga Usagi and Chibi-Usa seem to keep each other at arm's length up to a point. I like the anime version's relationship better.

I actually found their relationship in the Manga to be more mature--ChibiUsa and Usagi's. Like, ChibiUsa actually keeps in mind that Usagi is her future mother and doesn't treat her badly most of the time. There's not the endless competition for her own future father.

In my opinion, Anime Chibi-Usa and Usagi have a rather typical sibling relationship, where they often bicker but they make up soon enough. Plus, they're both willing to go to the limit to protect each other, when the shit comes down.

I always felt a bit sorry for manga Chibi-Usa, because she didn't get to have a Big Sis she could relax and bicker with and be a kid with to the same extent. Sure, the manga versions care about each other too...But it's not quite the same.

IDK, I always felt awkward. While she got the sibling relationship, it blurred a lot of lines that I don't think should be blurred.

For one, Usagi is and always will be her future mother. What happens when ChibiUsa goes back to the future and is used to paling with her mother like a sibling? While Neo-Queen Serenity is still Usagi, she is also Queen of the Milky Way. And she is also ChibiUsa's mother and has to train her daughter to one day be Queen herself.

If ChibiUsa is used to Usagi in a sibling mindset, this complicates their relationship. A lot. Neo-Queen Serenity needs her daughter to be strong, and yes, while it's nice that they have fun together, she can't be her pal because she has to set an example for her daughter and people as Queen. She has to remain in a position of authority over her daughter so that it's clear she's an example and she does want what's best. That doesn't mean they can't have fun together, but they can't bicker endlessly and ChibiUsa can't treat her mother with the disrespect she would sometimes treat Usagi with.

That's why I prefer the more mature-but-still-fun relationship in the Manga. They still have fun together (the glass kaleidoscopes and that whole fair come to mind), but it's still more mature and they seem to keep in mind who they are to each other.
