rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

The level of obsession some players have with "traumatizing" their characters is astounding sometimes. Any event they can toss their poor innocent bbcakes and have them come out emotionally and physically? They must do it. They must.

And I say "traumatizing" because about 99% of the time after the event is over, their character cries about it to everyone they know for maybe a week before magically forgetting and forgoing any actual development. Conveniently only ever brought up when pulled out of nowhere in random conversations that have nothing to do with the current conversation.

Yeah, I mad. Because apparently trying to crit players like this turns into WHY ARE YOU RUINING MY FUNNNNN.

It was fun the first couple of times. Not every other week where characters have to play therapist to yours.

People get thicker skin over time, guys.

what if you're in a game where there's trauma events every week. stop judging people because they opt into an event like that, especially if it's a horror game.

and the people who do this all the time only do it because they're attention seekers and never actually develop their characters any further than drama magnet and damage their CR without giving two shits

i love traumatising my characters, but only if they're not boring innocent crybabies

that shit gets old, i prefer making my most dickish characters suffer for fun

On the flipside, if you actually try to play out a realistic reaction to a traumatic event, you get accused of being a dramamonger. So yeah, I don't blame people for having their characters get over things quickly.

That's understandable and I've felt that way before too.

But I didn't mean people who ignore that one or two time event. I meant people who do this every other week to their characters. They find some way to injure them mentally or physically, never inform CR who would be paying attention and don't take even take a week or whatever just to cool off the nightmare fuel fun. :(
