Now that ATP has passed, I've been wondering: is it alright to request a character that you would really like to see but can't imagine how someone would play them out in the game (either due to setting incompatibilities and/or being draining to play in general)? Or is it best to practice restraint?

Due to over-saturation, anon.

The enormous influx of memes in rapid succession took away the excitement and specialness of them. The constant repeating of scenarios left people without a desire to replay them even with new people and drained the originality from people.

In an attempt to combat this, many meme makers stepped up their game to make joining into memes require more effort and thus encourage more original thought. The downside is that the idea of a meme as a quick and simple way to play was lost.

On top of this, the structured status of meme communities lead to a game like mentality where the no obligations style of play in which you could do what you liked and drop threads as you wished was looked down on.

As for dressing rooms, they suffered as people began to move away from them in favour of memes, due to the easier access and the fact they required less work to participate in. Then the above issues dried up the meme waters but the life did not flow back into dressing rooms and instead evaporated. Only the very largest with the most solid playerbases continue to operate.

In short bakerstreet and memebells, or to be accurate their participants, killed them both.

I really dislike plotting every single interaction. Or even most of anything that isn't a huge event that would require some planning. It takes the entire joy out of RP for me. I'm RPing to see what happens, where my character goes, and what his interactions will be. That is why I'm doing this. If I already knew beforehand what's going to come out of a log then what the fuck is the point of doing the log? When someone IMs me asking "hey what did you have in mind for this" I don't ever even know what to say. I don't know, man. What I have in mind is to have my character react to your character and your character to react to my character and to have things organically grow out from those interactions and see where it goes. What the hell is the point of planning it out?

I love being a lone canon warrior. My canon is popular enough that people want to play with me but anyone who actually plays it plays the same character as me so we can enjoy taking some liberties with things (there are lots of things to flesh out) and not have to worry about canonmates.
