Crud, Mac is the one I know the least about. But I would definitely recommend to try the basic stuff that a lot of times gets forgotten. Restart your computer if you haven't already.

If you got it from Steam, also try to verify integrity of game cache (in steam client, right click on the game, click properties, then local files to find that). That can often be the cause of numerous weird issues.

And lastly, uninstalling and reinstalling may do it as well if you haven't done that. Usually a feature not working right is an indication of something not installing right or some file being corrupted. An uninstall and reinstall usually will fix that.

And if you have any DLC for it, uninstall and reinstall those as well.

will uninstalling and reinstalling do anything to my savefiles if i use the same cd? it's an annoying issue, but not gamebreaking, and i'd rather just deal with it than lose all my families

and i don't know what dlc is so it's probably safe to say i don't have any

Not absolutely sure about it since I'm not as familiar with the platform.

If you want to be absolutely sure, just locate the folder for them and copy it to another location to back them up. As long as they are saved somewhere else you'll definitely not lose them.

Which basically may mean it's a known issue and EA is "working hard to resolve it".

I say that in quotes because they have a few of those that have existed for quite some time. They really don't appear to be working to resolve any of it, and instead make life miserable for everyone else.

And if you think you got shit support, I had one customer tell me EA outright promised a refund for a product they don't even have the power to refund. It would be like EA telling you that you could go back to the store and get a refund for your disc, but no store will refund an opened game.

i just had a customer service rep in the live helpchat tell me that they don't help with game mechanics issue in the chat, and that i should look for help in the forums

even though two consecutive people had helped me with said game mechanics issue earlier

so idek anymore, fuck this company

I can understand that, EA sure isn't going to get any of my money for how much misery they've sent my way.

Though I have heard from customers that they have better luck calling in. So I tend to provide the phone number rather than recommending chat (though I'll mention it exists, especially if I lack a number for the customer's country).
