Crud, Mac is the one I know the least about. But I would definitely recommend to try the basic stuff that a lot of times gets forgotten. Restart your computer if you haven't already.
If you got it from Steam, also try to verify integrity of game cache (in steam client, right click on the game, click properties, then local files to find that). That can often be the cause of numerous weird issues.
And lastly, uninstalling and reinstalling may do it as well if you haven't done that. Usually a feature not working right is an indication of something not installing right or some file being corrupted. An uninstall and reinstall usually will fix that.
And if you have any DLC for it, uninstall and reinstall those as well.
