Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 5,000. "One of our biggest load problems is entries that have a high number of comments -- loading those entries causes a big hit -- and we've been seeing an increase in the number of entries with lots of comments lately. If even a few high-traffic journals or communities started opening new posts when comments reached 2000 or 2500 instead of letting the post run until it hit the maximum number of comments, it would definitely help." - DW_News

I'm kinda concerned that the game seems like DV and is geared towards face-to-face interaction opposed to a network. Other than a school forum, characters have to get another's contact info to be able to talk to them. It sounds great in theory, I'm just concerned about how it will work out.

I don't mind logs, but it always seem so much slower to me and people seem more prone to drop a thread before anything happens.

I might be the only one worried! But I just thought I'd bring it up.

aren't action tags usually acceptable for face-to-face interactions?

Yeah! Action or prose.

This isn't something I'd been worried about, but honestly I'm not a huge fan of network-focused games. That doesn't mean your concerns aren't justified.

DV, from what I've gathered, limits itself to face-to-face interaction or phonecalls. I think I've provided a little more leeway for electronic based communication, but would you feel more comfortable with a slightly more vanilla network method? Is the "any existing social media site is viable for network posts" bit overwhelming, or underwhelming? It's different, and I don't want people to be confused by it.

Having everyone be magically ~connected~ by some handheld stretches the imagination a little too far, but we could work in another forum/website type thing for students that isn't monitored by the faculty.

Considering there are obviously other anons here and no one else has spoke up, I think you're good! I might just be a little too used to networks, I guess. :|a

Honestly, I think the 'any existing social media site' is a little overwhelming in a good way. I'm genuinely interested in seeing that in play!

So don't mind me! Thank you for actually considering it, though.

I play in an existing AU school game and most of us have found that if you want to make a believable and enjoyable AU, it makes sense to pre-establish some things. For instance, if their players decide that X and Y have been friends for years, there's no need to play out each other's info -- they'd already have it.

Hell, even if two characters are only just meeting, you can handwave some things. I don't go out of my way for my characters to always ask for names, since in most cases it's boring to play out.
