Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 5,000. "One of our biggest load problems is entries that have a high number of comments -- loading those entries causes a big hit -- and we've been seeing an increase in the number of entries with lots of comments lately. If even a few high-traffic journals or communities started opening new posts when comments reached 2000 or 2500 instead of letting the post run until it hit the maximum number of comments, it would definitely help." - DW_News

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.

I think this one was something about kinougames having 'developed' vaporware before.

You know, the thing that raises all the red flags with me is that when people raised reasons for suspicions (lack of concept document, lack of design document, the part about the donation system enabling them to get money immediately) they only said 'we aren't trying to scam you, we promise' instead of addressing the issues.
I know they have some info on their lack of design document but it's in their FAQ and they didn't say 'hey this is in our FAQ' or 'this is why we don't have a design document yet: -reason X-,' instead they just said 'this is not a scam' because that's totally not what a scammer would say.

It's also dodgy when Riley suggests that everyone bringing up their grossness is just straight cis white men whining about white discrimination, when the person they were responding to was a queer female PoC and the specific complaint was about some seriously nasty things being said about PoC.

Then Riley started deleting evidence of wrong doings rather than maybe addressing them and apologising. Luckily google cache is very helpful.

Is it really tumblr culture to throw money at vague requests, or are those quickly reblogged but largely ignored? The last big "pass-the-hat" I encountered was originated on reddit, with a message of "hi I'm this kid uncle and he needs X dollar for bone marrow transplant; his dad will get a Reddit tattoo if we get the amount" and lots of pictures that proves both the identity and the need of the child (lighthearted pictures, even). It was wildly successful, and not because the kid is Hispanic.

I'm going with 'yes, yes it is tumblr culture to throw money at vague requests' I've never actually seen people do much in the way of fact checking, background research or examining the people making requests and pretty much every instance I've seen made it to their goal. I've heard stories of ones that didn't but haven't actually seen them.

A nice example of the 'they don't examine the people making requests' is the fact most people apparently still think this particular instance of wank is about straight white cis people whining about things not being about them instead of people noting Riley's blatantly horrific statements against PoC, telling queer kids to commit suicide and wishing rape on people.
