If you don't have any advice to give, I'd also appreciate pointers on where to concentrate my canon review.

I guess, since his motivations came out before he died, it's best to canon review with it in mind. For him, justice and revenge mean the same thing iirc. It paints his character in a different light but since he keeps it all inside, it shouldn't change how he acts around people and how other people are expected to react to him.

He is also unblindly for a blind guy. I have yet to figure out how this works. High sensitivity to reiatsu?

I bet it was his creepy inner fly thing. Antenna or something. idk

It's mostly reiatsu-sensitivity, yeah- the scene where he meets Komamura for the first time and he can't really tell where Sajin is touches on that briefly.

The fact that we never see Tousen outside of places like Soul Society/Hueco Mundo/etc where everything is made out of reishi probably factors into the 'unblindliness' as well; I imagine that if he were ever legitimately in the living world he'd have to rely more heavily on hearing and touch to get around.
