Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 5,000. "One of our biggest load problems is entries that have a high number of comments -- loading those entries causes a big hit -- and we've been seeing an increase in the number of entries with lots of comments lately. If even a few high-traffic journals or communities started opening new posts when comments reached 2000 or 2500 instead of letting the post run until it hit the maximum number of comments, it would definitely help." - DW_News

how fast/slow is the app response time here

generally no longer than a week, but ive had apps accepted within three days

Depends on how familiar the mods are with a cannon. The last few applications I've submitted were all from well-known series, and I ended up receiving applications in a few hours - a day. However, I've heard it can take longer if you're apping from a cannon that the mods aren't familiar with, they'll take their time to research the show so that they can judge you appropriately.

So yeah, what above anon said. It can be really fast, but sometimes you might have to wait (but no longer than a week)
