Thinking of joining here. What's the pace like, generally? And how welcoming is it to very obscure canons?

Pretty welcoming? While a good chunk of players know each other from a previous game, they really like new blood and new characters.

I don't think a being from an obscure canon is any problem. Consider that there are a bunch of OCs who are doing well in the CR department in the game, and it's not like they're from any known canon in particular.

The atmosphere is very welcoming! The players are very open to new characters, no matter the canon.

The pace varies. There aren't too many posts, but the tagging speed can be fast if you're not used to the CFUD-style comment spam. It takes some getting used to.

Seconding what the above anons said, the game is very welcoming, and considering how great OCs are doing CR wise I'm sure very obscure canons won't have any problem.

Also thinking of joining. Can my character fit in if they have no special powers and aren't particularly an ass-kicker?

Definitely! There are a lot of characters that are non-fighters, but they can find plenty of things to do. And not all the tasks the gods give out require the character to know how to fight, so they can have their chances at getting items and the like just like anyone else.
