: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 2,000 - 2,500 comments. "One of our biggest load problems is entries that have a high number of comments -- loading those entries causes a big hit -- and we've been seeing an increase in the number of entries with lots of comments lately. If even a few high-traffic journals or communities started opening new posts when comments reached 2000 or 2500 instead of letting the post run until it hit the maximum number of comments, it would definitely help." - DW_News

I'd like this.

I think it would be neat to have a game where there is just strict segregation between the sexes. So basically there would be a half that is m/m and a half that is f/f and the two aren't supposed to meet. Of course one part of that could be the struggle some may have to try and bypass that and then they get severely punished for it.

I just really dislike the idea of games that only allow one gender of character to be apped.

au with high school/college with schools near each other?? they could have competitions and if we did it Japanese high school style, they can do culture/sports festivals and have competition there, too. so they could interact/be friends, maybe, but romances between the two schools could be forbidden for some strange reason...?? like "it's okay if you want to be in a relationship with your classmate, but you can't be in a relationship with our sister school" for some odd reason, maybe having to do with the history/founders of the school?

i really like the idea of joining the two, tbh. might be difficult if people app canonly straight characters? idk how to deal with potential m/f relationships, since the purpose is m/m and f/f relationships only. kinda seems silly to just EXCLUDE THE STRAIGHTS. that could be a conflict between characters? like it could be a world where homosexual relationships are the norm and straight ones aren't... idk.......

One of the anons upthread who wants an m/m game here-

I really like this idea actually. It allows for a lot of character interaction. I don't think you'd have to explicitly come up with a backstory forbidding interschool relationships, just go with the standard. No school really likes dealing with sexual relationships (especially if they're living on campus). Obviously heterosexual couples would have a more difficult time reaching each other, but a lot of players like that kind of conflict. I'd extend the "taboo" to any sort of sexual relationships though, I can't imagine any school would be pleased to know their dorms are being used for sexy times, whether m/f, f/f, or m/m. I think everyone would be policed.

Plus even though I really want an m/m game, my characters tend to have a lot of girl friends, or sisters and etc. I'd hate to see all those relationships dissolved for the sake of a singe gender game.

I think the 'trying to forbid sexual relationships' in general thing could work to promote more m/m f/f if only because to cross the streams they would have to jump through more hoops. But administration has very little way of preventing, say, two roommates from getting it on.
