[D] Haa. Haa. Haa.

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

So, what's the OOC environment like in this game? Also, what kind of characters seem to do well here?

Amat used to have a rep as one of the wankier games OOC, but honestly I really haven't seen that in a while? There was a big exodus a year or so ago and most of the bad blood seems to have gone with it. People are friendly and helpful, backtagging happens, there's a pretty good cooperative atmosphere.

Generally speaking, characters that are willing to put themselves out there and get involved with other people in positive or even negative ways tend to do well, especially if they can find a long-term purpose beyond survival. Loners who have to be dragged out of their shell, very damaged and withdrawn characters and silent types tend to have more problems from what I've seen. Also characters who would spend every waking moment trying to break the jamjar, rebel and escape seem to burn out fast since there's no real avenue for them to do that. There are pretty frequent events for mixing things up even for characters who wouldn't normally try and interact with others, though.

Overall I'd describe the game as smutty slice of life. YMMV on if that suits you and your character, but it's worth checking out to see if it does!

I think it would, actually. The character I was thinking of apping kind of has a life that could be described as smutty slice of life, so they're definitely okay with the idea of having sex on a daily basis with strangers, or approaching them for it.

I've never been involved in a sex game before, though, so hence the nervousness.

I've been in the game for several months now and it was my first try at a sex game as well. I've yet to hit any sort of issue at all with any characters or players. If you have an idea for a plot, either a big one or something with a single other character, everyone's open to you just asking them.

It certainly seems like a well run game it's just, yeah, worried that I might stumble into difficulties with a player somehow. But, I guess that's a risk at every game, right?

While I'm doing the newbie question thing...is it possible to just make an open post for smut or CR, like at TLH?

I don't know if anyone's actually tried that - even during a curse - but I think it'd be a really interesting way to go about things. Usually when it comes to collar help, people arrange things oocly/do an ic request to the network and when it comes to curses, they plot things oocly.

Honestly, though, I think it would be really interesting to see more people doing open interaction-type things like that.

I ask because the character I was planning on apping is the sort of person who would be perfectly fine with going out, finding someone, and seducing them into it. Like, unless they're denied people, don't see them having trouble with the collar. Open posts seem like it would fit them.

But if mass posts are meant more for CR, honestly, that would probably mean less work for me.

It's been tried in the past. Not so much recently, but the results are HIGHLY variable depending on the character and how much OOC interest there is in them.

You also don't see it done as much as on TLH since it is a game, things like plot, continuity, reasons for characters to be in the same place at the same time and a lack of random "aphros" outside of preplanned events makes it harder to justify. Especially since a character might go out trolling for someone to loosen their collar, but what if more than one person responds to the open post? After the first time obviously their collar would be loose and they wouldn't be looking anymore or have that pressing reason.

Which doesn't mean it couldn't be done, just that it's harder for people to get their characters on board for that kind of thing sometimes.

Ah, I see. That actually makes a lot of sense - sorry, I sometimes have difficulty fully considering environmental type stuff like that until I'm well into a game. I *suck* at intro posts especially. But that clears it up a lot, thank you! o7
