I only started reading Homestuck around the Gamzee debacle and Vriska/Terezi standoff, so

I'm wondering how many lines I just thought were funny were actually potshots at/references to groups of fandom. Like I would have thought the "cotton candy" were cute and fun and funny except that I've heard it around so much already.

the cotton candy thing is less of something made by the fandom and more engineered by Hussie. he just enjoys ship teasing and a lot of people take it way too seriously.

im not really sure what you mean, afaik thats the first time cotton candy has been referenced in the comic and thats been the ship name for jane/roxy ever since their first pesterlog. has he mentioned it before outside the comic or something?

there was an easter egg in one of the flashes where he drew jane and roxy getting there smooch on with packets of cotton candy around them as a joke

yeah i know, but that was also in reference to the fandom. like i said, thats been the ship name pretty much ever since their first conversation

i mean i wont say hes not ship teasing because he totally is, but "cotton candy" specifically was not self-generated if thats what you were implying
