[D] Haa. Haa. Haa.

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

SIREN'S PULL

This place has felt lagging all around lately, and it seems like many of the older players have lost steam, the newer ones uncertain of direction? I've been worried for its future for awhile now.

Thankfully some really good points were brought up on the latest suggestion post, and hope that the game follows through with them.

I've enjoyed my time here too much to watch this place fade into disinterest.

It might be that I'm just in a super active cast, but I haven't seen anything like a game wide lagging, besides the usual month or two dragging during finals season. Though I do agree there's some uncertainty with the direction.

Like you said, the discussion post brought up a lot of good points. I feel really positive about the future of the game direction.

As an older player, I agree with this a lot. I feel like a lot of people app in to either play with a cast and don't push outside of those boundaries or they play solely for certain aspects of the game. Sure, that's fine, but it means that the game itself isn't pushing itself forward.

I barely see any players take real initiative any longer. The suggestions post brought up some good points but quite a few of the people on there don't understand that they need to put some effort into getting things off of the ground. Psi brought up an excellent point: the game is what you make of it. If you don't put in the effort to get company notice or you don't try to build something up then it's not going to go anywhere. Xino E Mao, the bounty hunting, Madara's old business, Black Mask's gang and the criminal underworld workings all happened because the players took initiative and talked to the mods about what they wanted.

If people do more to make things happen, and if the mods work on some of the suggestions and make more open company plot and push the game into a solid direction, then I think the game will do well.

Same feeling. I've apped into some other games recently after mainly playing at SP for a while, and SP seems incredibly boring in comparison - there aren't many events at all. I wish some more big game-wide things would happen, like the political unrest of last year and the earthquakes and stuff.

+1

It wasn't until I apped into other games that I realized what I'd been missing. Not that I think the events should be arbitrary events for the sake of having something happen, but things that gain momentum and have a chance to affect the environment you're playing in. That's what imho other games have that, up until this plague event and the mods asking for advice, SP has been lacking since last year.

so i'm thinking about rejoining this game. i haven't played in it for about a year. can anyone tell me if it's much different now? how's the pacing, the ooc atmosphere, amount of cross-canon interaction, etc?

it was better a year ago

pacing depends. it can be slow some days and hella-fast the next, but almost everybody is OK with back-tagging (those who are not shall not be named...). i don't interact with anyone oocly on principle now but on the ooc comm there isn't a lot of drama/etc. cross-canon interaction is not difficult to get as long as you're interesting/give them something to work with/etc, as I learned the hard way when I first began.

what do you mean you don't interact with anyone oocly on principle? just curious

nothing against the players in SP, i'm sure they're all nice and stuff, but i've been doing RP for a few years now and almost all of my ooc correspondences have ended in wank/drama/dumb shit i don't want to rehash. obviously if somebody pms me or we have good cr going, i'll talk to them, but i don't go out of my way to start up a conversation with somebody i don't know. hence why i don't have plurk.
