Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Why's the start date so late? I'd join if the start date was pushed up sooner. Otherwise you'll have the 'people app characters then lost interest' sort of thing

Well, first off, both the mods are moving/changing jobs/other such IRL difficulties in late June, so we're leaving a little breathing space (important to note that the date is subject to change in case things wrap up earlier).

And second, we want to leave time for revisions/working out the initial backstory of everyone/setting the game up really well. We want this thing ready to go when we start.

It seems like you should wait until the game is perfect ... and ready to go before you advertise and open it.

It also seems like a better decision to wait until IRL isn't in your way for the influx of applications/reservations/interest.

I hope you don't plan to run the game this way.

Well, that's not really possible in this case, because we want to form parts of the setting around the background pitches we get. We plan to weave a lot of the characters' backstories together with the metaplot, and that's not something you can do before you get some characters to weave.

We're taking an extra couple weeks to make sure we're focused and that we get it right. We thought that was a prudent choice, even if we thought there was a good possibility we'd be opening the game earlier than the projected date.

Good luck keeping interest then. This seems really ambitious, but not all that feasible.

If it makes you feel better, I've done this exact thing with a cast of about 35 characters for a year-long live-action roleplay arc. Not that I'm just photocopying my methods straight from that -- I've also run a couple LJRP games, and I think I have a good grasp on what works. It's ambitious, yeah, but I'm not striking out in the dark here.

Reserves are open, applications are open, and an example (mod) application is up and unscreened.

We also stumbled across some good luck, and the game will probably be opening earlier than projected start date. Perhaps as much as two weeks earlier. Stay tuned!
