There are! Even a couple of games from LJ are still chugging along.

The culture's definitely shifted. For me, it's largely been for the better; more mellow when it comes to the creative side, but less tolerant when it comes to shitty behaviour OOC. As always, though, a ton of that depends on just who you're talking to and where you're playing. The easiest way to jump in now is [community profile] bakerstreet, but it's pretty hit or miss. (One thing I do pine for is open museboxes/dressing rooms.) A lot of games have pretty elaborate TDMs, too.

It's just as multi-fannish, even if the fandoms themselves are different. How easy it is to get CR with a lesser known character varies as much as it always has.
