It's this for me. Slice of life and "happy" gets as stale for me as an endlessly bleak zombie apocalypse. There is nothing for me to do there because my characters won't do anything or be challenged.

Horror and extreme situations are an easy vehicle for cr over a long period of time and makes the SOL moments more impactful for me.
