You'll find two versions, one an older man with black hair, named John Gaunt, the other a younger one with red hair, by the name of Jim Twilley. They're the same guy, reincarnation's involved, but the redhead has plenty of expressions to snatch up.
For someone a bit more famous, but unscarred, go for John Constantine. Specifically the Vertigo run. A lot of that has him cleanshaven, but a lot of it has him unshaven, and he'll probably be less instantly recognizable than the newer comics. Also, the Vertigo run had him age in real time, so he was in his 50s or 60s by the time the final issue rolled around. And as time rolled on, it just became harder for him to look well-groomed.
