Get that literally out of here

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Political topics are still banned. Report threads and they will be deleted.

You earned yourself a debt. There are a lot of ways to do it. Maybe you played a game of chance without paying, and then lost. Maybe you watched part of a show through the curtains of the Big Top without a ticket. Or maybe you’re one of the rare few to seek out the Ringmaster by choice, to see what this strange new world has to offer. Either way, you end up with a job with which to pay the carnival back, and a contract.

For a year and a day, you’ll travel with the carnival, given work to match your skills. You’ll see the multiverse and help to bring wonder to its various inhabitants. You’ll meet new people, discover new passions, and change in ways both physical and emotional. And after that... the Ringmaster vows to return you to the precise place and moment you left. If, of course, that is what you still want.

Sounds like a good deal, right? Either way, it doesn’t really matter what you think of it at the moment. The Ringmaster has decided to give you this opportunity, and you had better make the best of it.

As you’ll soon learn, sometimes what goes on backstage is more complicated than it seems, and a carnival that can travel through worlds can also earn itself some powerful enemies.
Lost Carnival is a panfandom game centered around the activities of a mysterious carnival, capable of travelling between dimensions, and bringing a motley crew of indentured employees with it. Major themes include the mental and physical transformations that come with being exposed to the carnival’s faerie magic, as well as the dangers that come from meddling with other worlds.

The game is likely to run for a couple years, and is intended to have a flexible and free form meta plot that encourages contributions from players, and will balance carnival slice of life with more involved and dramatic plot arcs.

Stories can conquer fear, you know.
They make the heart bigger.

You rouse to a splash of sea salt drying on your skin. A haze of glass-white sand glitters in your vision, dappled by lush palms and thick, curling foliage that disappears into a jungle of deep jade. From behind, crackling wood and sawing rope groan from a mangled life raft ran ashore. A petering wash of tide over pebbled sand fills your ears as you struggle to gain your bearings in a vast portrait of tropical color.

Perhaps you have arrived here without warning, plucked from a world you hadn’t expected to so suddenly depart. Perhaps you had met your final destination long before you stirred upon these crystal shores. Your guide, the Storyteller, does not discriminate. You’re here now, and the taste of the ocean is thick on your tongue, the faint stirring of warm wind soft against your back as it almost seems to encourage you forth into the island’s vibrant understory.

Welcome to the archipelago of LifeAftr. Your story is about to begin anew.

Lifeaftr is a panfandom game set in an archipelago of the same name, with a heavy focus on survival, exploration, and worldbuilding. Both player and IC influence are strong factors in shaping the dynamic setting, as well as the incorporation of RNG elements. Primary genres are survival and adventure, with genre shifts circling a broad range in accordance with plots and events.

Our first test drive is now live! Reserves open on July 17th. Applications open on July 24th. The game is set to open on August 3rd.

Hope to see you there!

Welcome to Norfinbury. The time is 06:00AM. The date is UNKNOWN. Please touch the screen to register me now.

The air is cold and still. It is silent, aside from the electronic voice of some nearby device that speaks to you, repeating its message incessantly until you comply. The walls, the floor, the ceiling are all unfamiliar to you. You have little food and water, inadequate supplies, and no map to help you get your bearings. You are completely alone.

You have found yourself in an at least half-ruined, abandoned town swallowed by perpetual winter. If the days are chilly, the nights bring treacherously sharp cold and even more snow. Much of the time, you will be alone, your most constant companion a small tablet that connects you to a network composed of travelers like yourself.

Find food, find the records of the previous residents, find whoever or whatever brought you here. Work together with other travelers both in person and over the network to piece together clues and open up new areas. Explore while dealing with the eerie atmosphere that suffocates the town and claws its way into your mind--maybe even literally. Figure out just what happened to this place. Seek a way out. Above all else, keep moving.

In Norfinbury, if you're not moving, you might as well already be dead.

Snowblind is a plot-centered panfandom psychological horror game for ages sixteen and up. With its main themes of isolation, survival, and exploration, it relies on players communicating and interacting with Norfinbury to open up the setting and solve the plot's mysteries. The game is initially capped at one hundred characters, with five per canon, although eventually it will expand. Characters will be able to discover remnants of the past residents and through these remnants figure out what happened and why they're here. If they're lucky, maybe they'll figure out how to go home--or at least how to stop this from ever happening again. While the town itself is unforgiving and dangerous, events will be focused on the psychologically stressful nature of the setting; this is not a game based around fighting monsters. Snowblind is a game with a definite plotline that will run between two and two and a half years (with the possibility of an extension).

ANAMNESIS ★ an 18+ world-building sex game ★ reserves open July 18th

Everything suddenly stopped making sense. Regardless of what you were doing just a moment ago, you're now lost, alone, confused, and everything around you is shifting before your eyes and under your feet. If you walk that way, you have a strange feeling you'll find yourself on more sturdy ground, but for some reason you feel as if your biggest priority should be ensuring you're not alone and showing people that you're here.

There are few answers waiting for you. No explanation. You were at home, and now you are here, and you just have to find some way to adapt.

Anamnesis is a sex RP game with survival, exploration and world-building elements, and themes of memory and illusion.

Drawn into an unpredictable and unstable environment that seems to be a mass of chaotic energy, characters find themselves with minimal resources, no explanation, no direction, and a world that simply does not understand how to function. The only guidance they have comes from strange, vague and out of place memories that give them a feeling of what can happen and what they need to do.

From these memories comes the knowledge that the only thing helping to fight the chaos is their own understanding of the world and of each other. To keep themselves from being pulled into the chaos and ceasing to exist, the world's unexpected new inhabitants need to form and maintain bonds with one another, to establish their existence in the hearts and minds of others. However, as characters become more established in the world, the world takes notice.

This world isn't just chaotic, it's malleable. As people become more real, so does their idea of how the world should be, and they gradually exert their own influence on reality. Pulling from the minds of its residents, the chaos starts to shift and shape, adopting ideas from their beliefs and memories and mixing them into something new and a little familiar.

Game opens August 1st
Reserves open at 12:00AM GMT, July 18th

There is a dimension outside time and space where pieces of ancient lands have been mashed together into a new world, meant to serve as the personal playground of the demon Orochi where he could entertain himself by fighting against and conquering the most powerful warriors from human history. He nearly succeeded, but in the end, those humans won and destroyed him. Orochi's original incarnation is no more. However, defeating him didn't send the warriors all home to their own times as some expected. Instead, the rift between the mystical realm and the real world opened even wider, and the power of Orochi's spirit continued to rip up whole castles and towns by the roots, bring them to his dimension, and plop them down next to existing lands. Orochi's servants are still out there, and the lands are still overrun by demon armies. The mystic Taira Kiyomori has not been discouraged by his failure to resurrect Orochi, he continues to try in the hopes that if he can succeed, Orochi will return and destroy this entire dimension. On top of this, new territories are still being transplanted, and bringing with them strange and wonderful new inhabitants. There is no way home until someone can finally break the hold Orochi's spirit has on this patchwork dimension. The problem is, no one, not even the mystics themselves, can say whether doing so will safely send everyone back to their own times – or destroy them all in one final cataclysm.

The Unrivaled takes place in the world of Warriors Orochi, set in a time after the false end of WO3 in which the Hydra was defeated but it didn't cause the world to end. This game is meant to be a structured sandbox with guided plot, a place for adventure where players literally shape the world itself.

Time is as intricately designed as the stars you now see, appealing and simultaneously unpredictable. Compelled, it moves forward and leads us from this world to another.

You have left your home behind by accident, a science nearly indistinguishable from magic plucking you from your world and time as easily as opening a door. The Ingress is here, ever eternal, and those who greet you explain where you are and how this has come to be. There appears to be no deceit in their words, no fine print to your (hopefully) temporary stay — for some of them are the same as you in most ways. You are told of distant worlds with technologies as advanced as the planet you are on, and only by traversing the deepest reaches of these galaxies will returning home ever become a possibility.

Thisavrou is at your disposal, as are its unusual natives, and its diverse culture is a constant state of evolution. The decisions you have made and continue to make will affect what becomes of you and these planets. Destiny, after all, is no matter of chance, and it is not a thing to be waited for. It is a choice, a thing to be achieved.

But even the clearest light will some day weather away in shadow.

For you have found the unfathomable distance: the slow inevitable drift of our movements that brings us out of the unknown past and into the unknown future. When the stars darken and all that’s good crumbles to ash... where will you find yourself?

You've been kidnapped to an alien city run by two asshole gods who call themselves Sinne of the Dawn and Ciemra the Dark, among a bunch of other pretentious titles. The city is just The City, a tangled mess of old and new, familiar and strange, all jumbled together with neither rhyme nor reason governing its walled entrails. The City provides comfort and sweet vice, enticing delights to placate the inhabitants trapped within its walls — so long as they keep the gods appeased.

Outside The City, jungle chokes out the sunlight. Ruins hide among the lush, overgrown leaves — and other things, prowling and hungry for more than just a quick meal, waiting for you to leave the safety of The City's walls. And make no mistake: you will have to venture out of the walls' shadows sooner or later. The City's twin gods demand tribute from within the ruins, and dire consequences await anyone foolish enough to ignore their commands.

Complete enough of the gods' Objectives, make a name for yourself, and life in The City can be very, very good indeed. Fail, and you may just be swallowed whole.

LOST RAIDERS is an 18+ panfandom jamjar adventure game with an easy monthly AC used to shape the flow of the game. Flexible events and goals allow player actions to have major effects on the setting and tone of the game and provide for a wide range of IC experiences, ranging from fluffy slice of life, to explicit and kinky sex, to the most extreme of horror. Events will always be opt-in, but the game's core is based around dark, potentially disturbing themes and a kink-positive environment. The game aims to provide a non-judgmental arena in which to facilitate and explore dark experiences for characters; as long as everyone involved is OOCly comfortable, anything can go.

You've made a wish. What wish you've made is a personal one — you might have wished to remain in the paradise you've previously found, or to avoid certain death or dismemberment, or perhaps just to have enough money to pay the bills. Whatever the reason, your wish has caught the attention of the Energem, a magical entity capable of generating wish stones — magical gems with the power to grant a wish in your own home world.

The Energem has summoned you to the city of Cadelle — pronounced "cuh-deh-ley", of course, but feel free to call it Cuddle City like everyone else — to help. The city, you'll soon learn from a well-dressed, low-level government official, is suffering from an energy crisis. No coal or wind power will do; the city runs off of positive energy, typically generated by local schoolchildren on volunteer field trips or native adults running food drives, but their stores are quite low.

Can you help? Don't worry if you're not a do-gooder. The city has recently discovered that — ahem — more intimate actions might help generate energy, too. Of course, you'll need to keep in mind the city's no-tolerance policies for breaking the laws of consent, but other than that, you're free as a bird!

In exchange for your help in generating much-needed energy for the city, you'll be offered a wish stone from the Energem upon generation of 100 Cadelle units of energy. You can choose to return home with your wish stone right away, making your own personal wish come true, or you may opt to gift the wish stone back to the city in exchange for some unique amenities. Perhaps you'd like your very own year's supply of Big Belly Burger... or that pet you're missing from home? You never know what kind of wishes can be granted.

Welcome to Aqora.

You've died of a mysterious and incurable virus and now you've woken up in a boarded up apartment building. It's not Heaven, it's not Hell, it's... Los Angeles in the year 2025. It's two years into the apocalypse and things are going all right - if you take into account the fact that you're living surrounded by steel and concrete walls, there are armed sentries at every gate, and there are zombies shambling around in underground parking structures while the community's doctor does experiments trying to find a cure. The government - if it can be called that - is comprised of a small committee of four native citizens that seem to have your best interests at heart. But do they? Are they hiding something? Why do people come and go? Why don't any of them? Why can't anyone explain anything?

There are always necessary things. Go on runs to grab supplies for the community. Head out to the nearby reservoir to get water. Take up farming. Go out to find more communities. Find a cure. Kill zombies.

While a main point of the game is slice of life in the apocalypse, there are plenty of planned mod plots in the coming months that will keep characters busy. There are big things on the horizon, and the zombies aren't the only enemies you'll have to worry about.

The End of the Multiverse

Every canon, mythology, storyverse is a complex program. There are hundreds if not infinite iterations of each, running parallel to one another. Taken altogether, this multiverse is a supersystem called F.A.T.E.S., Front-end Alternacosmic Timeline Executive Server. This server preserves time and space and the innumerable minute differences between world iterations, as well as the beings in them.

And now, the multiverse is under attack.

The destructive vector is called D.E.S.T.I.N.Y., the Data Exception Scrubber Timeline Inquisition Network Yconivirus. The virus manifests itself in "canon" worlds in a variety of ways, most commonly catastrophic natural disasters (earthquakes, electrical storms), bizarre monsters, or an invading army of beings in red armor.

Regardless of the details, the common factor is clear: the timelines are ending, derailed by massive apocalyptic events that are not canon.

Fortunately, F.A.T.E.S. will not go down without a fight. Your character has become part of that battle for survival.

Welcome to Xistentia.

Life in Xistentia

Xistentia is a casually-paced post-apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy panfandom game. Your characters arrive as refugees in a safe haven dimension with a forest and a beautiful green city. The defenses are powered by the intense emotional connections between the characters, whether negative or positive.

Gameplay focuses on intimate character development, science-fiction/fantasy elements, questions of reality, exploration (the local world, the multiverse), community-building, and action-adventure. Plots and events that dip into other genres (sex, horror, etc.) are optional. Missions may be completed to turn back the tide of D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. and repair the homeworlds.

We're running an inaugural plot for our public opening! The plot is loosely based on Spiderman: Homecoming and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We're kicking off with a Prequel in the Test Drive Meme, when your characters land in the middle of the Battle of New York. Fending off aliens, your characters will gradually find their memories and bodies begin to change...

This plot will be spoiler-free for Spiderman: Homecoming.

that...really doesn't give us much to go by. is there an faq? what are the death mechanics like? is it permadeath? is there a power cap? do you accept aus, ocs or craus? what about a location page where we can see what kind of landmarks the town has to offer or even just a general description of it so characters have a better idea of where to go and how to scavenge for basic supplies like food and water?

i don't even see an app or reserve page up. you said you plan on accepting them tomorrow and yet i don't even have a basic idea of what your format looks like so i can start planning. this whole thing looks unfinished.

Re: Hopeton: A Panfandom Horror/Survival RP, Apps Open August 1st

[personal profile] hopeton_mod 2017-08-01 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
The FAQ is here. Death is covered in the FAQ, but for your reference, it lasts for one IC day. One IC day equals three OOC days.

There is a soft power cap for characters whose powers would interfere with the setting. For example, Captain America would be fine, but the Scarlet Witch would have a soft cap.

AUs, OCs, and CRAUs are accepted.

There is a map with descriptions of the locations here.

Reserves aren't accepted as it's first come, first served. The area for apps is here.

This is the first game we have put together, so of course there will be bumps. Thank you for your understanding.

coming from someone who's played in a number of horror games, it would probably be best if you held off on opening for a little while longer until you can get this organized a bit better. i know it's your first time modding, but i'm going to be blunt: your pages need to be cleaned up and have at least a tiny bit of coding so they're easier on the eyes. dwrpers aren't horribly picky when it comes to pretty things, but we do have a standard of presentation = quality. i'm not saying you have to have professional expert level coding and graphics, but just putting in a little effort to make it look presentable will go a long way and give off the impression that you care about your game, and by extension, so will we.

also, there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't have reserves. reserves have a duel purpose; beyond saving up a slot for an apper, they give potential players a better idea of who's coming into the game and who they should app. this is especially important if you're accepting challenge apps. since all apps will be screened, what are you going to do if three people or more app the same popular character? people want to know what they're getting into and if they should even bother.

i'm not trying to slam you guys unfairly on any of this. i love spooky town jamjars and would love to see more of them. i just really think you should hold off on opening until you get it together a bit better and drum up more support and interest.

I don't really care about pretty coding but you seriously need some navigation pages that point to all this.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-01 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
A plus +3 to all the anons above. You have no navigation pages, no TDM, and what info pages you have are incredibly bare and bland and don't really tell me anything interesting about the game. You should also have a mod plurk or another reliable way to see who you guys are and how to contact you. I definitely wouldn't join this under the basis of it looking so incomplete and threadbare.
