no. it was taken as a consensus of gen being swamped out of bs. and in relation to it being ONE OF THREE categories, which is a fucking thing that you don't get to just sweep under the carpet to make your point, gen is not being swamped out. gen is evenly on par with the other TWO categories of the comm. it may feel like it's being swamped if you have no interest in shipping or smut, but it's on an even playing field with the amount of categories in it, which are gen, ship, smut. that's how it's always been categorized. you don't get to change it because you're making a point that isn't.
and from what i saw of the conversation, there were mentions of putting shipping (at least) memes in the 'new gen comm', so maybe you all want to talk among yourselves as to what you expect from this. you can't smoosh part of a category in the 'no' section, then say 'well, that part of the no is okay, but only that part... which isn't actually part of that other dirtier part'. almost like it's its own category.
