i play fairly popular characters, and more often than not, i do have castmates, and i've definitely done this before. the super boring intro post makes two things happen: one, i usually get to cover all the "omg castmates" and "omg canon points" chats in one go, and we can build more interesting cr from here.

two, i have had a lot of luck with lots of tags from characters from other canons, and it's always really cool, cross-canon cr is my favorite – but the last thing i want out of the boring as fuck semi-mandatory intro mingle log is even more tags (and there are only so many interesting things you can do with those to begin with). a boring toplevel leaves me more capacity to tag out, while still giving the people who would kinda need to have seen my character a chance to do stuff, all while avoiding an avalanche of smalltalk.

so yeah, i kinda purposefully only start being interesting by post two.

inb4: yes, i do try to spice things up once the threads are actually rolling, and no, i don't do it if there's an actual event taking place.
