I think the issue is less the lock-on range and more the range at which she can stay locked on, especially with the ramp-up of damage she can do. I recall being able to boop her away with Lucio in the past, or having to blink only once, maybe twice to get away from her with Tracer. Now that she stays locked on up to 10 meters and the damage grows exponentially the longer she stays locked on, it takes three blinks and a boop isn't enough before you're down.

TBH her primary fire wasn't really that big of an issue in the past, to me. I always got tons of kills with it. I had 40 hours on her before they buffed her. The issue was that she didn't have much utility for second-point defense because the spawn was so close anyway that there was barely a point for having a teleporter. The shield generator is a gnarly buff and practically all she needed. The shield throwing and faster slow balls is an extra, plus giving her more stock on turrets and the ability to put them up immediately was also a huge improvement that brought her quality of life up. She really didn't need to be a counter to everyone in the game, too.
