+1ing the above, but wanted to add:

if there's something the other mun was REALLY well known for, especially aesthetically (ex: always gives their icons a blue tint, used username underscores, made by me) do not do it at all and just do something normal and not-special because doing something opposite (like making your icons RED instead of blue) would draw attention to it and make people suspicious, obviously.

but i feel that taking extra care your presentation doesn't give people red flags would be important, because it silently communicates to potential partners and shows them that a sane person can play this character too. you never know how many people are considering play with you and making tiny choices like that could help bring someone that had a run-in with the previous player some extra comfort, esp if the previous mun was particularly awful

i played a character like this for a couple years, actually, but it wasn't on dw so idk if my experience there will relate, but feel free to ask me more questions about this topic.
