You might have been at it for so long that you've got a better idea of how hard it is to maintain a presence in a game if the character doesn't work out right, or you might come to anon communities often enough that you've developed an idea of what gets wanked on and worry that it might affect you.

Either way, it might be worth it to switch strategies. Pick the top three games and the top three characters you want to play, and figure out which is the best possible match. Then give yourself a deadline... something like two months, maybe, or six. App and do your best to stick with it, get involved, figure out whatever system works best for you to get tags back regularly and quickly, and if you're starting to flag, know that you're only here for x amount of time.
